One of the trends in interiors that I really love right now
is mixing metals. If done right, mixing metals instead of having just one can
add more personality to a space.
This was a huge trend in the 1950s and 60s and lately it’s been coming
back. I love this look because it
gives interiors a retro element while still keeping it looking modern. Unlike
mixing other finishes which can make a space look messy and unorganized, its
okay to mix metals because they are neutral colors. I especially like when lighter colored metals are mixed with
darker colors to create a contrast, like silver and brass. This helps add
balance to the space because while lighter colored metals, such as gold, make a
space feel warmer, darker colored metals like chrome can make it feel
cooler. I also like mixing matte
and shiny finishes on the metal.
However, metals are usually expensive, especially if they are used as
one of the main features. A
cheaper alternative would be to mix different metallic finishes; this would
achieve the same effect without spending as much money. Mixing metals is also a
big trend in jewelry and fashion right now
